Reviews of Financial and Management Systems - Reviewed financial and management systems, policies, practices, and internal controls of prospective and existing Federal grantees. Conducted both desk and on-site reviews. Identified deficiencies and weaknesses, and recommended changes leading to improved accountability and stewardship of federal funds.
Administrative Standards Reviews - Conducted on-site program, financial and administrative standards reviews of state commissions charged with administering and overseeing millions of dollars of federal grant and subgrant funds. As Project Coordinator managed and led the administrative standards follow-up effort with states that did not meet all standards to ensure appropriate compliance. Assisted in revising the standards and coordinated their pilot testing.
Audit Resolution - Developed strategies and protocols for resolving findings of Federal audits of grantee organizations. Reviewed audit findings and recommendations, identified issues and their possible resolution, advised on corrective action plans, determined documentation needs, resolved significant issues and questioned costs, negotiated settlements, developed and prepared proposed management decisions, and ensured appropriate follow-up actions.

Organizational Reviews - Conducted reviews of the management, organization, staffing, and service quality of grant and contract organizations. Prepared reports with findings and recommendations which led to improvements in the organizations, their operations, and customer satisfaction.
Award Compliance - Identified deficiencies and shortcomings in award administration and reporting practices and procedures.
Special Studies and Activities - Developed a special study to identify unneeded and available Federal funds obligated to multi-year grants which resulted in the recovery and reuse of over $16 million. Assisted in the strategic planning for, and the development, review, and critique of a proposal which resulted in a highly competitive multi-million dollar award.
